"The ole glory hole"

Dad took me and the girls on Saturday to "the ole glory hole" we try to go this time every year...last time, yes, it was glorious. We caught 7 beauties. This time..... no, not so much glory. We got skunked like big dogs. Although, on the way there we did see a dead tree that miraculously was growing apples. A total freak of nature, and leave it to dad to notice it! The fishing trip was a ton of fun even though we didn't catch anything, I love spending time with dad. I also love the fact that my girls aren't wussies and can cast like pro's! They aren't afraid of worms and i'm sure if we actually would have caught fish they would have poked out their eyeballs with sticks.

Boil Boil Toil and Trouble!!!!

I know...Halloweens over but better late than never? The kids annual Halloween party was awesome as usual. The kids had a ball and as you can see the googley eyes were a hit. They played don't eat Pete, they stirred witches brew and Aspen and her friends put on an awesome show for us. You can't tell in the pics but it was dark and all you could see was glow in the dark stick people dancing to "I'm your boogieman". It was great!
The night after Halloween we went to an adult party and I think my fav costume of the night was Jose`Mere..tacoverde. She actually rubbed fresh salsa on her skin! Dad's was pretty good too. The bucket he was carrying was full of bloody guck and he drank his beer through a hose that came out of his head!

Go Ashlie!!! Go Ashlie!!! Go Ashlie!!! Go Ashlie!!!

These videos are are couple of years old. We were camping and Ash was around 9. I don't know if it's the dancing or if it's because it's pre-contacts and braces, but I could be having the crappiest day of my life and these would still make me laugh out loud like a hyena. Talk about a kid with rubber legs gettin her groove on!! Boooyah Sqweeward!!

Oh, and how funny are Mike and Brendan dorking out in the last one! It is impossible for anyone in my family to video anything without a special appearance of a numnut....or two. Actually, I'm pretty sure everyone in my family has a dominant numnut gene. I am positive I've passed it on succesfully to my children and it's rubbed off on Doug for damn sure!

Happy Birthday Jason.............

As most of you know, Doug's only sibling Jason passed away in February. I just wanted to tell Doug's family I love them and i'm thinking about them all. Jason would have been 37 today.
Here are a few memories of Jason that hopefully will make Leah, Carl and Doug smile today....
He always wanted to eat at Taco Bell. He had a contagious laugh. A particular memory of boating in St George (you know which one Leah!). His unconditional love for scroungy dogs. Paint, paint, paint and more paint (mixed with a little grease). Clothes he would never throw away. Scrubbing the driveway with tampons and paint thinner to get rid of the paperboys bicycle tracks. Doug shaving his mustache. Leah, Mouria, Jill, a Sharpie and a master plan. Big trucks with big tires. Of course there's the motorcycles or basically anything motorized. His love for his son. ..........Oh yeah, and then there was paint!
He was so full of life and I know he is missed so much by so many.
We promise to help take care of your sweet Ruger. We love you Jason

He's going to hate it that I said that but it's true!! It's okay though Brendan...your totally a badass!!! Chase your dreams buddy!!!!! As you can see, he makes me want to use punctuation excessively!!!! We love you Weasel!

End of summer...

I hear it's going to snow this weekend...and i'm not sad at all. I love Winter and I know you all think i'm crazy, but....I won't have to mow my lawn. I won't have to look at my neighbors UNmown lawn. I won't have to look at the neighbors dog turds on my lawn. I can throw snowballs at my kids. I can wear stupid clothes because my coat will cover me up (well...I actually do that regardless!) I can throw snowballs at YOUR kids! Ha! I LOVE WINTER!!!!!!

Corn Maze......Hichaw!!!

We took the kids to the corn maze / pumpkin patch the other night and wow!! It was so beautiful! Aspen was home sick so I didn't take pics of my kids because we are going back, but I couldn't resist taking some pics of the silly cowboys. Mere just happened to notice that they had these straw hats in the car (yes, they are the same hats that humiliated Jessa at her preschool graduation) Those two wore those hats the whole night and they were both so gloriously happy you would have thought chocolate raindrops and bubblegum was falling out of the sky...they had a BLAST!! So i'll post some pics of my own offspring soon but for now here are the cowpoke munchkins in their element!

oh...and P.S. leave it up to Mere's porch monkeys to eat a peice of gross, old, snaggle corn!

"When you thought I wasn't looking"

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you hang my
first painting on the refrigerator, and I immediately
wanted to paint another one.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you feed a
stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind
to animals.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you make my
favorite cake for me, and I learned that the little
things can be the special things in life.

When you thought I wasn't looking I heard you say a
prayer, and I knew that there is a God I could always
talk to, and I learned to trust in Him.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you make a
meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I
learned that we all have to help take care of each
other.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you give of
your time and money to help people who had nothing,
and I learned that those who have something should
give to those who don't.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you take care
of our house and everyone in it, and I learned we have
to take care of what we are given.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw how you
handled your responsibilities, even when you didn't
feel good, and I learned that I would have to be
responsible when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw tears come
from your eyes, and I learned that sometimes things
hurt, but it's all right to cry.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw that you
cared, and I wanted to be everything that I could be.

When you thought I wasn't looking I learned most of
life's lessons that I need to know to be a good and
productive person when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn't looking I looked at you and
wanted to say,'Thanks for all the things I saw when
you thought I wasn't looking.'

Recently (Sept 6th) Mom and Dad had an anniversary..I can't remember how long it's been..... somewhere around 97 years? Anyway, this poem reminded me of them and all of the priceless lessons they have taught me and my siblings that we are fortunate enough to be able to pass down to our children. Anyone that knows my Mom and Dad know that they are the most giving, caring, loving, non-judging, thoughful people. To know them is to love them both, and I do very much.

Still to this day, they teach me things when they thought I wasn't looking.

Happy Late Anniversary!!

"Itsy Bitsy Spider"

This post has no meaning whatsoever other than to tickle the pants off my sister Amy. She loved my bug pictures soooo much she keifed one of them and used it as her blog header pic. Sooooo....I was messing around the other day looking for a good spider web and I saw this little guy. He was really ugly as all spiders are..until, I looked at him on the computer and I had had to laugh at his fuzzy craft wire body and his googley eyes! He has a face only a mother spider could love & he looks like something Jessa would make at preschool! Anyway, I dedicate him to Amos....

Asha

How cute is this pic of little pre-teen Asha? It's so dang stinkin cute It makes me want to spank her butt. That's her holy knee up top too. She didn't like the pic because she thought you could see hair on her knee..I think it makes it even cuter. Can you imagine if it was my knee? You wouldn't be able to see any skin. Poor Doug.

Alien Bug

I only have one thing to say about these pics.... MMmmmmmtake me to your leader! These bugs look just like an alien to me. Isn't he cute? Oh...and this music, Haaaa! I'm going to blast it out next time I pull up to pick Aspen up from school!

I had to literally fight Jessa and her stupid bug trapping bag off while I took these pics. She calls them Premantis' (one word). They are her favorite bug so I took these pics for her before she trapped him and shortened his life span. You know.... now that I think about it, they look so much like aliens and they are so long and skinny. I think he shimmied up Ashlies nose last night and stole a little bit of her brain matter? That's why in the purple picture he was smiling at me......SOB!

This is just a quick note to brighten everyones day. Yesterday Doug and I took Jessa to lunch at Pizza Hut and I guess Doug or I was talking with our mouth full. Jessa said..."Guys! It's bad nanners to talk with your mouth full" then she sat there for a second then said "It's also really bad nanners to puff a biscuit in Pizza Hut"

Oh...the nanners thing? There are a few words that start with M that she uses N instead. For instance "Nopping the floor" "Naple Syrup" and "Narbles"....... hence "Nanners".

Shout out to my hubby

Friday was Doug and I's sixteen year anniversary..WooooHoooo We've made it this far baby! We can do anything! We're like the couple off of The Notebook. Half the time we can't remember anything and the other half we're yelling and the rest of the time well.....nevermind. Anyway, it's amazing how time flies when your raising three hormonal girls, and one smelly hamster. I can't wait to grow old with my main sqeeze. As soon as I get a scanner i'll post wedding pics so you all can see how Doug rocked his Mullet! Now that I think about it....the only thing that's changed in sixteen years is going from a mullet on his head to a mullet on his chin. hey....it's a Chullet!
I love you Normie.

Happy Bday Amy!!!!

I have been needing to post this forever, but I wanted to give it the time it deserves so that is my lame excuse for the lateness of my Birthday post to Amy!
Wow, how do you describe Amy? If I honestly had to narrow it down to one word it would be really easy. Grace. My sister has this way about her that only a special few are born with. It's a way of somehow knowing what people need and an ability to take care of people with genuine warmth. I tell people all of the time how special she is and one night when I attended a death call with her when she was doing hospice I got to witness it firsthand. She walked in that room and exuded knowledge, confidence, caring and understanding. She stood beside that family in the worst, most raw and exposed part of life that a human can endure. She took charge of the situation and took care of thier loved one with dignity and respect. I was honored to be her sister and I was so proud. I don't think we realize how lucky we are to have people like her in this world that are willing to do what she does. She's changed jobs since then and now she is doing wound care at a major hospital in Ogden. She takes care of the most horrible wounds that people can imagine. I know that if I were to pick someone to take care of me it would be her. I guarantee you when she reads that part she is going to cringe because according to my mom i'm a real ass when i'm sick :) (that's a bunch of crap mom. You know i'm the easiest one out of all of us)
Amy is my best friend, my comrade and my hero. She's one I can laugh with, cry with, or my personal favorite... close down the mall with. No matter what you do with her it is most definitely time well spent and time I cherish.
I love ya sista.

Oh, and on a less sappy note. Good hell, look how white and straight her teeth are. I guess 7 years of braces paid off!

Maximillian...Max...or as Squidward calls him..."Boo"

Well here he is. The new wonderful and amazing Max. Isn't he so cute? He's just so cuddly and sweet and I love him so.
Well, now that I got the lying out my butt out of the way I can tell you how I really feel. If it looks like a rat and acts like a rat and smells like a rat...is it a rat? Heck no...it's really just a Syberian , Africanized, Dwarf, Teddy Bear Hamster. Maximillion is the new addition to our family. It was either him or a cat. I went for the smaller of the two and I'm really tring to love him, really I am, but it's sooo hard to love something that effing pees on you both times that you try to hold it and bond.

We went to Amy's a couple of weeks ago and Ash fell in love with Chandlers hamster. That's where it all began. Off to Sam's Club we went. She picked him out and we got the salesgirl/twelveyearold to help us get him out of the cage. After he bites her a few times we are all on the end of our seats watching the circus she finally gets him out and hands him to Ash. Ohhhh the cuteness! Then....in the middle of three teenagers, me and Jessa all saying Awww isn't he cute? Woooooooo Hoooooooo!!! He decides he is one of those little freaky flying squirrels or sugar bombers or whatever they're called and leaps out of Ashlie's hands and dive bombs about five feet onto the tile floor. That was when the earth stopped rotating...... We all freeze and wait...........His head twitches a couple of times, his right eye has a small seizure, and then he rubs some dirt into it and shakes it off! That's when we knew he was the hamster for us. Well, I would have bought him regardless because at that point I figured he wouldn't make the ride home.

Wondermax now lives in Squidwards room and he has a big green rolling ball on the top of his cage where he loves to stockpile his food under all the glorious fluff.I know it's because he thinks Jessa is the Devil and she is going to come in and steal his crunchy corn kernals, and she just might. That's how she rolls. Anyway I wanted you all to see our new addition. Welcome to the family Maxiepad!
